Lucas João drops in on a summer Soccer School

Forward visits the Dome to get involved with Community Trust

7 September 2019

Topping off a fantastic summer of Community Trust Soccer Schools, our recent signing Lucas João headed to a session at The Dome, adjacent to Madejski Stadium.

It has been another summer of fun with our highly popular Soccer Schools, run by FA-qualified coaches from Reading Football Club’s Community Trust. With various exciting exercises and activities throughout the weeks of summer, the Friendships made and the fun along the way is what the budding young players come for! Whether it was scoring the last-minute winner, or coming first in the games and tournaments, the young players seemed to love every part.

Earlier in the summer, Jökull Andrésson – our Academy goalkeeper – visited a session one afternoon in the final weeks of the Soccer School, and spoke about the Ambition he has as a footballer.

And then to top off the summer, last week our very own Lucas João came down and gave the excited participants a real shock. A little Q&A followed by Lucas checking out the skills of all the players, and even time for photos with everyone at the end. The Commitment shown everyone involved was second-to-none.

Community Trust Manager, Dave Evans, said: “Lucas was very engaging with the players on the Soccer School, very happy to take questions and photos with the children. He spoke very openly with the children and was happy to have a laugh and joke with them.

“It is really important that our players can engage, communicate and inspire our next generation of supporters – thank you Lucas, a great ambassador for the club.”

Community, Friendship, Ambition and Commitment. This is The Reading Way.
