The Barclays FA Women’s Super League get’s underway this weekend, with Kelly Chambers’ side facing a trip away to Prenton Park on Sunday 8th September, kicking off against Liverpool at 2pm.
It will be the Royals’ first competitive fixture of the season having contested a Valencia side during their tour of Spain last month.
The Reds too had a busy pre-season of their own, visiting the United States where they dominated in a 6-0 victory over Metropolitan Conference Allstars.
Both sides have welcomed new faces to their rosters since last season, with former Reading defender Rebecca Jane joining the Liverpool ranks alongside ex-Royals loanne Jade Bailey from Chelsea and Melissa Lawley from Manchester City.
Dutch youth international Maxime Bennink, Norway World Cup star Amalie Eikeland and fellow Norwegian international Kristine Leine have all signed respective deals with the Royals too ahead of the imminent WSL campaign.
The two sides met on three occasions last season, with Kelly Chambers’ team taking three points away from their Merseyside opponents at the start of October.
There was parity when the Reds made the trip south to Adams Park in early December – that 2-2 draw preceded a Continental Cup fixture three days later where the Royals suffered penalty pain in the resulting shootout after a 1-1 draw.
For Liverpool, targets will be focused on becoming more competitive and improving on last year's 8th-place finish in WSL while for Reading, its a chance to continue to build on what was such a successful campaign last time around.
Royals supporters are reminded that our Women kick off their campaign on home turf by hosting Manchester City at Adams Park on Sunday 15th September (12.30pm), and you can get tickets here.
