Yesterday marked the eight year anniversary of our stunning 3-1 win at Southampton - a victory secured by Jason Roberts' bullet header and two late goals from Adam Le Fondre. And, in marking that magnificent night on the south coast, we asked fans if they thought it was their best ever away day.
It was for so many recalling how the exhilarating win took Brian McDermott's men within touching distance of not only promotion to the Premier League but made them favourites for the title at the Saints' expense.
However, there were a number of other suggestions from fans who have followed the Royals on the road for so long.
Gylfi's penalty, Brynjar's nutmeg and Shane Long's winner to knock Liverpool out of the cup at Anfield. Kevin Doyle scoring a goal which would be celebrated into the night as the Royals earned their passage into the Premier League for the very first time at Leicester City. Lifting the Simod Cup at Wembley.
St Mary's stunned by Alfie's late brace. Promotion to the Premier League and the title was in sight. All on Friday 13th, eight years ago today.— R e a d i n g F C (@ReadingFC) April 13, 2020
Can anyone name a better away day? pic.twitter.com/AbSfMYXPF5
A 4-2 victory at Upton Park which also took us towards top flight football in 2012, Leroy Lita scoring twice at a misty Manchester City in an unforgettable Premier League campaign that saw Steve Coppell's men finish eighth, Jamie Cureton's sublime finish at Griffin Park that took us up in dramatic final day of the season fashion under Alan Pardew.
Other mentions on our social media channels came for play-off semi-final performances at Cardiff in 2011 and Fulham in 2017 - both of which took us to Wembley. And there was even one fan noting our 11-goal defeat at Fratton Park, an insane but memorable match for so many despite Reading ending up on the wrong end of a bizarre result.
Here are some photos of those games which might jog your memories and think of the personal experiences you went through in travelling to this games as a loyal Royal...
