🔨 Royals to host Hammers in pre-season friendly

Moyes' men Madejski-bound to kick-start September with a warm-up game against the Royals...

20 August 2020

Madejski Stadium will welcome David Moyes' West Ham on Tuesday 1st September in a behind closed doors pre-season friendly.

Set to start at 4pm, it will offer a stern challenge for Mark Bowen’s men on the eve of the new campaign. Our Carabao Cup First Round tie is due to take place the following weekend against Colchester United, before the Sky Bet Championship league season starts on Saturday 12th September.

David Moyes’ side could well include plenty of stellar names – including recent arrival Tomáš Souček and former Royal Michail Antonio.

It is more than seven years since we last met the Hammers in competitive action – that encounter came at Upton Park as the hosts ran out 4-2 winners in our final top tier game at the close of the 2012-13 campaign. Earlier in the year, Pavel Pogrebnyak had netted the only goal in a win for the Royals at Madejski Stadium.

West Ham finished last season strongly, steering well clear of trouble at the bottom and they are certain to provide our side with a real workout to get ready for the big kick off a few days later.

Even though supporters won’t be able to make the trip to the Madejski for this friendly fixture, we aim to stream the game via our official YouTube channel.

And we’ll be providing plenty of content on the day to bring you closer to the action. Make sure you’re following us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for images and updates, and we’ll have reports, reaction and highlights after the game too!

We are already due to take on Gillingham on home turg on Saturday 22nd August before visiting Jose Mourinho's Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Friday 28th August.

And we now have confirmation that we will be facing Colchester United in the Carabao Cup on Saturday 5th September, kick-off 3pm.

Come on URRZZZ!
