💻 Royals fixtures to be broadcast on iFollow for football’s return

No need to miss a minute when we get back underway

26 August 2020

Reading supporters need not miss a minute of the action when the new Sky Bet Championship campaign kicks off on Saturday 12th September – for the restart of the new season, our games will be made available to watch on iFollow.

The EFL and Sky Sports have agreed a new flexible framework which will ensure supporters of all clubs will still be able to follow their teams even though access to matches is still restricted… with our initial batch of games being made available through iFollow (except any fixtures selected for live TV broadcast, which will be exclusively available via Sky Sports).

All fixtures for all fans across each of the EFL’s 72 clubs will be available to watch via a Match Pass at the price of £10.

And a week before the Championship fixtures get underway, our Carabao Cup fixture against Colchester United on 5th September will also be available on iFollow with a £10 Match Pass.

This match-by-match streaming service is a temporary measure, which has been put in place while our fans are still not permitted to attend games here at Madejski Stadium or to travel around the country in support of the boys in blue and white. This situation will be subject to regular review, the first of which is set for early October.

So wherever you are, you’ll be able be at Pride Park in spirit alongside the Royals for the opening weekend of the league season and hopefully cheering us on to our first three points of the campaign!

We appreciate the patience of our supporters in awaiting information about Season Tickets for the 2020-21 season – we know that our fans are itching to know when they can come back to RG2 and to commit to the club for the coming campaign.

Our intention is to go on sale with Season Tickets once we know exactly what kind of bundle of games we are able to offer to our fans… of course it will not be all 23 home fixtures this year, but hopefully it will become clearer in the coming weeks as we edge closer to being able to allow supporters back into our stadium.

We hope that our loyal supporters understand our reasoning behind this approach – which was to avoid taking our fans’ money before being able to guarantee what exactly it is that we are able to offer!

Until that time, we once again thank our fans for their patience and ongoing support. Updates about any ticketing arrangements for when fans are able to return (including any pilot events) will be communicated as soon as possible.

And it is important for our supporters to know that a lot of work is being done behind the scenes to plan and prepare for the return of supporters to our stadium, in both the form of a pilot and a permanent return for fans.

Reading FC was one of very few clubs which offered all 2019-20 Season Ticket holders both the opportunity to watch all of the final nine games last season for free by using their iFollow promotional codes, and being able to take a refund or credit on the pro-rata cost of the last five home fixtures. A majority of clubs made their fans choose one or the other… at Reading we tried to give a bit back to our most loyal fans during those difficult days by offering the option to take both.

Until we are in a position to launch our 2020-21 Season Tickets, all supporters will need to purchase a Match Pass to watch any of our games online on iFollow.

As usual, iFollow Match Passes can be bought from our Subscription page by clicking here, and can be watched by heading to readingfc.co.uk on matchday or through the ‘Reading Official App’ on iOS or Android.
