All Reading FC Women eyes are on Friday's first fixture reveal...

When women's football was abruptly brought to a halt back in March, there was uncertainty about how and when it could work towards a resumption.

The 2019-20 was brought to an early end - Chelsea were crowned Barclays FA Women’s Super League champions for the third time, while Aston Villa were confirmed as champions of the FA Women’s Championship, replacing the relegated Liverpool in the top tier.

Kelly Chambers' side meanwhile finished up as the fifth best women's team in the country - and Reading FC Women have been back in training in preparation for the 2020-21 campaign which we now know is set to begin on the weekend of 5th-6th September 2020.

And at 11am on Friday, we will learn the opening encounters for the Royals when the first fixtures are revealed.

We know already that the Royals will face a different side to their first opponents last season - back in September 2019 Fara Williams earned us three points against now-relegated Liverpool at Prenton Park at the very start of the last campaign.

And we also know that in the first game of the season there could be a number of debuts being made by new signings to the Royals' squad - Danielle Carter, Emma Mitchell and Deanna Cooper have all put pen to paper with Reading FC Women to replace a number of first team squad members who departed at the end of their contract last month.

The FAWSL are due to announce the first two rounds of fixtures this Friday morning with more of the schedules to follow in due course. And it is hoped that a good number of our home fixtures in 2020-21 will be staged at Madejski Stadium, making top flight women's football more accessible than ever before to the local community.

So keep your eyes peeled for the fixture reveal this week!
