"We've got to recover, we've got to get some freshness back into our play and we've got to get our mentality right as well," Mark Bowen said, unequivocally ahead of Reading's match against league leaders, West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday night.
The Reading manager was left disappointed after conceding late against Hull City to see the teams take a point each at Madejski Stadium, and he has called upon his side to bounce back against West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday night.
He is under no illusions of the challenge that will be posed by the Championship's table toppers, though, after they came through a difficult afternoon to beat Millwall in tough conditions on Sunday lunchtime.
With the Royals in the middle of a hectic run of fixtures, Bowen spoke of the need to come back to Madejski Stadium as refreshed as possible on Wednesday night.
"We've got to make sure we go into the game in front of our own fans here and we're back to the qualities we've shown over the last few months," he continued.
"We're trying not to get wrapped in playing anything other than our own game, showing our qualities and trying to be in charge of our own destiny.
"We've got to keep striving forward, as I've said right from the start. We'll keep pushing and trying to put wins on the board, and seeing where we get to.
"We've got to get back to it. We've got a big game now here on Wednesday against the league leaders, and you expect a reaction from the team.
"We want to get back to the situation of knowing what we're good at as a team, and in terms of a performance, I'll certainly be looking for the players to bounce back.
"As a group, we've got to make sure we freshen up physically and mentally for a big test on Wednesday."
