Mark Bowen discussed the threats Wigan Athletic will pose of his side on Wednesday night, when the Latics come to town under the lights to face the Royals.
Bowen's men won the reverse fixture at the end of November courtesy of a brilliant hat-trick in under five minutes by George Pușcaș overturning a 1-0 deficit at the DW Stadium.
Since then, though, Paul Cook's side have put together their best run of form this season to take them into Wednesday night's match, with just one defeat in six allowing them to climb to within touching distance of taking them out of the Championship's relegation places.
A superb away win at Leeds was the headline of that run, but they earned plaudits for overcoming promotion hopefuls Millwall at the weekend, to leave them in a good way going into Wednesday night's game, according to Bowen.
A superb treble from George Pușcaș gave the Royals a 3-1 win over the Latics in November.
"Wigan won on Saturday against Millwall, so they'll be coming to us buoyant - and they will cause us different problems," said the Reading manager.
"We will have different expectations and problems to face in the next two home games because we're expected to go and win them.
"We've got to embrace that expectancy, make sure we're up for the fight and do things right, make the right choices on the night and get the result we need and deserve.
"We'll pick the bones out of the Leeds match, then prepare for Wednesday and make sure we're ready for it, and ensure everybody's confident we can come away with the three points."
