For the third time in the space of 11 days, Reading and Cardiff City will lock horns again this Tuesday – and whatever happens, there will be a winner on the night.
A 1-1 draw in the Emirates FA Cup at Madejski Stadium, and the same scoreline in the Sky Bet Championship in Cardiff on Friday. But our cup replay at the Cardiff City Stadium will be settled, even if that means extra-time and penalties.
“I’ll certainly be thinking about a team that is strong enough to go back to Cardiff and win the game,” said Reading boss Mark Bowen.
“We have competition for places – that’s what any manager wants, and we’ve got that. We also got two new players into the club in the last few days, making it even harder for players to keep their places.
“We will look to see what we can do to combat Cardiff, and what we can do to win the tie. We know how they’ll play and we’ll try to stamp our authority on the game.
“There are some tired lads in the dressing room after our trip on Friday, because of the pressure that they put you under.
“Whoever gets through has a home tie against Sheffield United to look forward to, which adds that little extra credence to it, so we’ll prepare as best we can and pick the right team to give us a chance to win the game.”
