📅 FA Cup replay set for Tuesday-night trip to Cardiff

27 January 2020

Reading and Cardiff shared ball number 9 in the draw, which took place live on The One Show on BBC One on Monday night as the last 16 of the cup was mapped out.

Former winners of the FA Cup, Glen Johnson and Teddy Sheringham drew the numbers on the night, with each of England's top four divisions represented in the draw. Northampton Town of League Two were still in the draw, after taking Derby County to a replay with a 0-0 draw on Friday night.

The replay between the Royals and Cardiff is due to take place at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday 4th February, 7.45pm kick-off, with the date still subject to change for TV selections. The club will provide further updates if the match is selected for TV coverage.

If Reading are able to make it through to the Fifth Round, however, the match will take place in the midweek commencing Monday 2nd March, and will not require a Sky Bet Championship fixture to be rearranged.

This is a change from the traditional mid-February date of the Fifth Round, with the Premier League introducing a two-week winter break for the first time.

Also, a draw between the teams in the Fifth Round will no longer mean a replay is required, so any ties in the Fifth Round will be decided by extra time and penalties on the night if necessary.

Tickets for Reading's replay against Cardiff will go on sale in due course, with prices to be confirmed.
