No surprises as to who the cover star is for Saturday's programme, as Charlie Adam adorns the front cover of the next issue of The Royal, as Reading take on his former club.

Inside, your programme is still crammed full of your usual pre-match reading material, with notes from Mark Bowen and Liam Moore looking ahead to Saturday's game.

The skipper summed up a remarkable festive period for the Royals, and after soldiering through the final minutes of the game with a dislocated shoulder (again!), here's a snippet of what he had to say:

"I want to say thank you to the travelling fans who came to support us. Preston is a very long way for you to go over the festive period, we took a good number of you there, and then the Fulham game was brilliant.

"It was the best voice I’ve heard the fans in for a long time – let me tell you, that really does help, especially in the last 15-20 minutes, where we were hanging on a little bit. It gives us that extra little push, and you were all brilliant on the day."

With the new year starting, we take a look back at some of the best photos of 2019, summing up and chronicling some of the standout moments of Reading's year just gone.

You'll get a look at Saturday's opponents, Blackpool, and club historian, David Downs takes a look back at a famous clash between the Royals and the Seasiders in his regular column.

Saturday's contribution from popular fan site, The Tilehurst End, sees Olly Allen recount the recent successes of the Royals in the FA Cup, and the stats team from the University of Reading look ahead to the big game with Beat the Boffins.

Your FA Cup copy of The Royal will cost just £3, make sure you get your copy on Saturday afternoon!
