After bowing out of the Premier League Cup at the weekend, our Under-23s will be competing against senior footballers as they look to get to the Semi-Finals of this year's Berks & Bucks Senior Cup...
Marlow vs Reading U23
Berks & Bucks Senior Cup Quarter-Final
Wednesday 11th March, 7.45pm kick-off
Alfred Davis Memorial Ground, Marlow
It was Reading who defeated Marlow in the inaugural Berks & Bucks Senior Cup all the way back in 1878, and the teams will do battle once again - this time for a place in the last four of the county competition.
Our Under-23s made it through to the Final of last year's tournament, eventually losing out to Slough Town of the National League South in the Royals' first involvement in the competition since 2002.
This time around, Marlow, an Isthmian League South Central club in the eighth tier of the English football pyramid, are currently 11th in their league ahead of Wednesday night's last eight match.
The Blues have made it through three rounds to get to this stage, with fellow EFL clubs Wycombe Wanderers and MK Dons also entering the cup in the Quarter-Finals alongside holders, Slough.
It's a relatively short hop for any Royals supporters hoping to attend Wednesday night's match at the Alfred Davis Memorial Stadium, with details of how to get to Marlow from Madejski Stadium below:
Marlow are twice winners of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup themselves, taking the trophy home in the 1990-91 and 1993-94 seasons respectively.
The Blues sprung an upset in the last round too, knocking out Maidenhead United on penalties in the last 16, who sit three divisions above the Royals' next opponents.
It will be a valuable test for Scott Marshall's side as they pit their wits against senior footballers in the local competition, alongside their packed youth schedule.
