The Community Trust is currently recruiting for new students to join their SEND traineeship starting in August 2020.
Last August, Reading FC Community Trust delivered a SEND traineeship and Study programme to eight young people with SEND. The programme consisted of learning valuable employability skills alongside coaching qualifications.
This employability programme is delivered over a 12-week period with the SEND traineeships learning about the sports industry and the different job roles within Reading Football Club.
The course then switches to an eight-month study programme with each candidate. The candidate would gain a level one Principles of Sport qualification, if successful.
Alongside the learning, the candidates will volunteer on the Community Trust’s Disability programme, funded by the EFLT and Wembley National Stadium Trust. The traineeships work alongside qualified coaches in delivering the community-based disability sessions gaining experience in working with different impairment groups.
“Doing the traineeship has helped me learn about the industry that I would like to work in. It has given me the opportunity to work with Reading FC coaches and learn whilst doing a job I love. It has given me confidence and given me the opportunity to make new friends, the fact I am doing this with my home town club is amazing.”
The qualifications are funded by education providers GP strategies and SCL education, with sports-based course work and work plans for each learner.
