One of our very own, Tom McIntyre will tonight face England international Andros Townsend in a battle of wits, as they take each other on virtually on FIFA 20.
At 8pm on Monday evening, the Royals will play Round One of the #UltimateQuaranTeam tournament and face Premier League outfit Crystal Palace.
The tournament, initially created to fill the void of no football has raised over £50,000 which will at the end of the tournament be split accordingly:
- Firstly, for vital funding for some EFL clubs who expect to experience financial difficulties due to the disruption to their match calendar. 75% of the money raised will be given to the EFL within 28 days.
- Secondly, the remaining 25% will be split between two very worthy causes. One is the EFL's chosen charity 'MIND' (219830), and secondly in funding the all-important COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fundraiser by WHO.
Football clubs from over the world have put their name in the hat, to battle off virtually. Wanting to support without any doubts, Reading were in the draw and was given a home tie against the Eagles... and a representative from each club stepped forward to take over the controls. Tom McIntyre spent no time volunteering his services and Andros Townsend did the same for Palace.
It's a straight knock-out - one of the two representatives will march on to Round Two; the other will have to pack away the PlayStation, hang up the controller and console themselves with 'there's always next year' - hopefully in healthier circumstances.
And the game will be streamed LIVE on Twitch, and by clicking below you can direct yourselves to Tom's channel, and be sure to back the Royals! URRRRZ!
