📣 "We know we have to rise to the occasion and go for it"

Royals defender delineates FA Cup journey ahead of Fifth Round

3 March 2020

"They will come all guns blazing and we must do the same. Hopefully we can get a lot of supporters in to support us to victory!"

Royals defender Matt Miazga knows the importance of tonight's FA Cup clash and reveals the Royals will be going all guns blazing, with a spot in the quarter-finals at stake.

With our FA Cup journey consisting of two games against Blackpool, and two games against Cardiff - a spot in the Fifth Round is well deserved for the Royals. But Sheffield United stand in the way of a spot in the quarter-finals of this prestigious competition, something that Matt knows all too well.

"I know the importance of cup competitions," Matt said. "It’s a perfect way to win games and potentially win some trophies.

"They’re in a great position in the Premier League, we played them last year, so we know what they’re about. But anything can happen, it’s the FA Cup Fifth Round - it’s one game so we’re going to give it our all. We want to advance and that should be our mentality, 100% and go for it.

"Hopefully, we can get even more fans cheering, get Madejski Stadium filled out - and we’ll give it a good go and try to get through to the next round! They’re always cheering, they see the intent and the effort, and they’ll always applaud the effort, so we just need to do the same Tuesday.

"It’s a big game, one game off the quarter-finals. We know we have to rise to the occasion and go for it. They will come all guns blazing and we must do the same. Fingers crossed we can get a lot of supporters to support us to victory."
