🔜 Preview | Royals travel to Everton for Women’s Football Weekend

Saturday fixture on BBC Red Button for Reading FC Women

13 November 2020

Reading FC Women travel to Walton Hall Park for a rare 4.30pm kick-off on Saturday in the FA Barclays Super League as part of the annual Women’s Football Weekend.

This year’s event is the second Women’s Football Weekend and will be even bigger than its predecessor, as every Women’s Super League game is spaced across the entire weekend, ensuring fans can watch each one with no overlap whatsoever, including Reading’s trip to Everton.

Reading’s opponents Everton have enjoyed a strong start to their FA Barclays Women’s Super League campaign and, until last weekend, were undefeated in league competition, before being on the wrong end of a 4-0 score-line away to Chelsea. Previous to that, Everton had notched up wins against Bristol City, Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Ham, as well as a draw against Brighton.

Kelly Chambers’ Royals have two wins, two draws and two losses from their first six league games, that sees them sitting sixth in the table; two places behind Everton.

The last time we met

Reading and Everton crossed paths twice last season, each side taking full points from their home fixture. Everton visited Adams Park back in October of last year, where two first-half goals for Jade Moore were cancelled out moments later by strikes from Chloe Kelly and Lucy Graham, respectively, before substitute Lisa-Marie Utland scored the winner for the Royals moments after coming onto the field.

Reading were on the wrong side of a 3-1 score-line in the return fixture at The Pure Stadium in January of this year, when Chloe Kelly opened the scoring for the Blues before a penalty from Fara Williams got the Royals back in the game. But Kelly struck twice more in the second-half to complete her hat-trick and seal all 3 points for Everton.
