✂️ Yakou's scissor kick a contender for Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month!

Striker's overhead up for October accolade...

13 November 2020

It was a finish to behold.

Yakou Meite had already handed the hosts the lead when Rotherham came to Madejski Stadium last month, ghosting onto Ovie Ejaria's delightful cross to drill home before half-time.

But with the Millers searching for an equaliser, it needed something special to make sure of the victory. And then...

"Here's a chance, brilliant acrobatic...GREAT GOAL! Incredible goal. Meite with the bicycle kick, smashes it into the top corner. Incredible athleticism from Meite."

The Royals striker chested Michael Olise's corner up into the air, leapt high and hooked a sweetly struck overhead past Jamal Blackman to make it 2-0 in exquisite style.

And Yakou's fine finish has rightly been nominated as one of the contenders for the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month for October!

As all those who voted for Michael Olise's superb effort in September - the winners of the Sky Bet EFL Goals of the Month are chosen by a fan poll on Twitter.

And he's up against a couple of other excellent goals from the second tier.

Barnsley's Alex Mowatt caught it well when he sent a stunning left-foot volley past the Millwall keeper, while Jayden Stockley found the back of the net from 30 yards out when Preston hosted Birmingham City on the last day of the month.

So Yakou needs your vote!

Voting is OPEN NOW via the Sky Bet Championship (@SkyBetChamp) account and it closes at 3pm on Monday. So get voting Royals fans! Winners will be announced next Friday...good luck Yakou!
