Off the mark for the new campaign – George Pușcaș struck in the first half against Watford, and it proved to be the match-winning goal.
The Romanian forward was pleased to contribute with the winner – a deflected effort to cap a fine team move – and more importantly, with the effort and team spirit shown by all concerned from the first whistle to the last.
“I’m delighted for the victory and delighted for the three points,” Pușcaș said after the match. “We showed a good performance today and I’m happy for that.
“I enjoyed today – I think the team enjoyed today too, and this is the most important. We have to keep going like this.
“We are a unit here – everyone is pushing for each other, everyone is fighting on the pitch. This is the way.
“I’m delighted when I score – it is a good feeling to help the team with victory. The three points was the most important.
“Watford played well as well, but we controlled the game well. For 90 minutes we were focused on every ball – in defence and attack. We had some chances, and in total it was a very good performance.
“It was hard work from everyone. We do it in training, and this is the example that everyone is working hard.”
