💬 "We have to be ready for our toughest test yet!"

26 October 2020

The schedule is relentless and two away trips this week is sure to put Reading's exceptional start to the season to the test...starting at Ewood Park on Tuesday night.

Blackburn fired four past ten-man Coventry City at the weekend and are the league's top scorers, so the best defensive record in the Championship will be up against it when they take on Rovers tomorrow night.

"We expect it to be our toughest test yet," Pauno said. "They play good football, they have an experienced coach with a fantastic record in the league and I have heard great things about him from Quinton Fortune.

"So with all that I expect a very challenging game – it’s not going to be easy. But what game was easy for us?

"We have to manage the load on the players, the minutes that the guys are playing. And we have a plan for everyone - how to engage everyone, keep everyone connected. And you have to have everyone ready."

"I'm very happy with these guys," he said of the players who have earned him an unbeaten start to managerial life in the Championship.

"When you get into the locker room and see the eyes of our warriors. Everyone is engaged, everyone has the fire in their eyes and wants to win, even when it is tough and it hurts.

"Having a team focused mentally like we are at the moment is priceless.

"And as a manager, you want to give them the confidence that they can win every game they play. But we also have to keep our feet on the ground.

"This is a marathon...the games never stop. And the next one is just around the corner. So we have to be ready."
