Royals defender Tom Holmes insists it's all about narrowing our focus to our own actions, ahead of the final five games of a hectic season, starting with a tough test against Cardiff City, who travel to the Madejski on Friday evening.
Mick McCarthy's men will become our latest guests in RG2 this weekend, and Holmes is excited by the challenge Cardiff will present to him and his teammates.
He said: "We’re expecting a very tough match, they’re a team with a lot of quality going forward and they’re strong at the back.
"It’s going to be a big challenge, but we’re in front of the Sky cameras, and it’s one we’re looking forward to - we’re all ready to go."
Holmes has enjoyed a productive breakthrough season, in the midst of an especially demanding campaign, and he has already clocked up 35 Royals appearances this year.
The defender, who has played across the backline says he has thrived on the relentlessness of regular first-team football.
He added: "There’s been a lot of games, especially compared to my last season when I only played about 10 matches, and this year’s been very different.
"I’ve enjoyed it, it’s been very hard on the body but it’s something that I’ve loved, and I’ve learned from the more experienced players to see how they cope with it all.
"It’s where I want to be so it’s something that I’ve had to get used to and I’ve really enjoyed it."
On the back of a free week of training that has allowed the squad to regroup and recover, Holmes is intent on replicating our early season form in order to finish as strongly as possible.
He said: "We’ve had a good chance to recover from that block of three games. We’ve just been focusing on ourselves, not looking at what’s going on around us and we’re really looking forward to Cardiff.
"When we first faced them it was very early in the season, we had a really successful start and we’re looking to recreate that performance and that victory over them. It’s an exciting prospect.
"We just need to avoid worrying what’s going on elsewhere, we had a fantastic start to the season, so let’s look to emulate that and have a fantastic end to the season too."
