Royals defender Michael Morrison is hoping his side can kick start their next unbeaten run on Saturday and extend the gap between themselves and those outside of the play-off places, when Middlesbrough arrive in Berkshire this weekend.
The 32-year-old centre-back who netted his third goal of the season against Bristol City, will be full of confidence that he and his teammates can put in another commanding performance against The Boro, on the back of a clean sheet and three points at Ashton Gate in the week.
He said: “We’ll definitely be trying to get three points on Saturday against a rival for those play-off places. We want to open that gap up as big as we can, and we know it’s an opportunity to do that.
“I think we’ve put in some good performances, and we saw against Bristol City how professional we can be when we’re ahead and hopefully we can take the lead and show that again on Saturday.”
On Neil Warnock’s side, Morrison is aware that the visitors bolstered their ranks in January and that the Royals will have to be at their best once again at the weekend.
He concluded: “They added some quality in January with their forward players, Bolasie and Kebano are there now so they’ve got some real threats. I’m sure they’ll come with a game plan and try and make it difficult and catch us with the talent that they’ve got.
“We’ll work out a game plan, we’ll prepare and we’ll be ready to go on Saturday.”
