Royals defender Michael Morrison was the latest guest chosen to feature on the EFL’s official podcast.
Morrison, who has been ever-present in our backline this season, spoke to Mark Clemmit for more than 15 minutes, covering everything from how he’s spending a rare weekend without a match, to preparing for life after football.
The experienced centre-half touched on how the club have dealt with the pandemic, and the disappointment of seeing this weekend’s game against Brentford rescheduled.
"I think at Reading we’ve been really good in restricting our contact, by not coming in and being around each other as much.
"It feels like a safe setting at the training ground. And that is because we’ve all made a real effort to make it that way.”
Morrrison told the podcast how much he’s enjoyed working with Veljko Paunović, and how he admires the manager’s positive mindset, as the Royals continue to hold their own in the top six.
“He’s got so much energy and positivity; it grows on you," he said of the boss. "One thing I’ve learnt in the last few months is how being positive can affect your mindset, and how that can affect your performance.
“If you look at what we have done in the last few months and how far he has moved us along as a football club, its outstanding.
“That’s a testament to him and his staff, and how strong he is in reinforcing good practice. At the moment, we’re talking about how we can improve ourselves, and with everything that’s going on at the moment, he’s trying to use adversity as a positive.
“He’s talked about how all we can do is focus on football, how privileged we are to be playing and to make the most of it.”
