Michael Olise has been named December’s EFL Young Player of the Month.
The Royals attacking-midfielder had a month to remember as he registered two goals and two assists, to help his side strengthen their grasp on a play-off place, heading into 2021.
The festive period yielded a busy schedule with mixed results for Reading, but Olise played his part in all seven of our December fixtures.
Despite being just 19 years old, he was on hand to produce a piece of individual brilliance to secure Veljko Paunović’s side a 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers mid-way through the month.
Having been introduced as a second-half substitute, the youngster stole the show with minutes to spare at Loftus Road, as he fired home a curling long-range effort to secure the Royals three valuable points.
Olise, who tops the Championship's assists charts, then backed up his performance at QPR by scoring again four days later, against a top of the table Norwich City side.
He also played his part in our 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, during which he provided a pinpoint corner which found the head of Michael Morrison and did his best to inspire a Royals revival during our defeat to Brentford, when he swung in a cross for Sone Aluko to convert.
