John Swift played his part in back-to-back wins at the start of the season – but then an injury sustained in training kept him out for three months… until he finally made his return last weekend against Luton Town.
Even though it has resulted in a chunk of the season being missed, he is delighted that the side have continued to pick up some notable results in his absence and still sit in the play-off positions as we enter a new calendar year.
He has made substitute appearances against Luton Town and Swansea City as fitness steps up – he’ll be looking for more of the same when we visit Huddersfield Town, taking us to the midpoint of our league season.
“We’ve been winning – we’d just won the first two games when I got my injury, so we were doing really well,” Swift said.
“Then we carried on doing well – sitting there watching as we were winning and winning.
“And we’re still up there – so I’m happy that we’ve come back and we are still pushing for the play-off spots. So now I’m just trying to kick on and trying to get as many minutes as I can to try and help the team.
“It was an easier game to come into against Luton than it was against Swansea, because we had a lot more of the ball and we were 2-0 up. Swansea was a different type of game.
“But for me it was about getting more minutes under my belt. I hope to start a game soon, and then carry on where I left off.”
