🎖 Trio added to newly installed Academy Honours Board

Thanks to STAR, the Vice-Presidents and the Reading FC Former Players' Association, the fresh board installed will continue to celebrati the achievements of our young players

25 March 2021

Graduates of our esteemed Academy just keep coming and, as a result, we have installed a new Academy Honours Board to continue to celebrate the achievements of those who have progressed through the club's elite youth set-up to make their senior Royals bow.

The first three names have since been etched onto the new board, Mamadi Camara, Conor Lawless and Olly Pendlebury were all presented with their framed debut shirts last month, but now they have taken their place in Reading Football Club history on the boards that adorn the walls outside main reception at the Madejski.

The young trio registered their first-team debuts during our FA Cup Third Round tie with Luton Town back in January 2021. Pendlebury started the match and produced a commanding midfield display, while Camara and Lawless entered the fray from the bench at Kenilworth Road.

They join a long list of those to progress through the club's Academy, from current first-team players Andy Rinomhota, Omar Richards, Tom McIntyre, Tom Holmes and Michael Olise, to the likes of Shane Long, Jem Karacan and Gylfi Sigurðsson who were some of the earlier names on the original board.

A big thank you to the Supporter's Trust at Reading (STAR), the Reading FC Former Player's Assocation and the Vice Presidents who have funded both boards.

The previous board which has now been filled was installed little more than two years ago with plenty of space for additions. But few expected it to be brimming with names as quickly as it filled up - due credit to our Academy for continuing to produce players of first team quality.

Here's to filling this space with yet more Academy talent as quickly as we did the first!
