Novakovich‘s Story:
Of Serbian decent, Novakovich began his career with the Chicago Magic PSG development system situated in America.

The 6’4” striker made striving progress with the US international youth system, making his U17s debut in 2013 and progressing through the ranks to score a brace for the U20s in a friendly encounter.

A deal was in place for Novakovich to continue his youth career in America with Marquette University, but with an abundance of talent, the Royals acted quickly to lure him to Berkshire in the summer of 2014 so he could become cultivated and settled by our own Academy staff.

Joining our hooped outfit on the back of two very successful years for the Academy, Novakovich wasn’t going to miss out on the celebrations.

Playing for both the U18s and U21s squad, he assisted Martin Kuhl’s men in promotion to Premier League Division One, alongside finding time to make his first team debut for Steve Clarke’s side.

In March, due to an FA Cup quarter-final replay with Bradford on a Tuesday, our fixture against Watford the prior Saturday was a chance for some of the Academy crop to preview their much capable talents.

Alongside Zat Knight and Jure Travner, Novakovich was the third Royal to make his debut at Vicarage Road that day. And adding to that appearance, the 18-year-old also stepped out at Madejski Stadium as a substitute against Birmingham in April.

In 2016-17, Novakovich topped our Under-23 goalscoring charts by notching 16 goals in 30(+3) appearances for the club - helping the Royals reach the Premier League Cup Final in the process.
