Osano’s story:
Kenya-born Osano arrived in England at the age of nine, progressing through our Academy system to make two substitute appearances for the first team.

The versatile powerhouse defender played his sole Madejski Stadium game as an impressive extra-time substitute for John Oster in a dramatic 3-2 FA Cup win over West Brom in January 2006.

His only other senior appearances came in the same competition at St Andrews, James Harper making way for the defender in the last minute of another 3-2 win for Steve Coppell’s men.

Osano’s time in Berkshire came to an end shortly after completing loan spells at Woking an Aldershot during the 2006/07 season.

Beyond the hoops:

Upon leaving Reading, the centre-back signed for Rushden & Diamonds that summer, becoming an instant regular within the side.

He made 160 league starts for the Conference side, scoring his first and only career goal in a 4-0 win over Altrincham in November 2008.

After his successful time with the Diamonds, spells with Luton and AFC Wimbledon followed where he racked up over 40 league starts between them.

The 28-year old was last seen playing his football in India for I-League side Bengaluru, who he signed for in July 2013.

Achieving his first club honour while in India, Osano and his Bengaluru teammates won the domestic league for the first time since it was founded back in 2007.
