Edwards’ Story:

The Young Socceroo was loaned out to League Two’s Fleetwood Town in February 2013. He made his professional footballing debut against Aldershot and appeared nine times for the Cod Army before returning to Reading in the summer.

At the start of the 2013/14 season, Edwards flew down under to complete a season-long loan deal with A-League side Perth Glory – who at the time were being managed by his father Alistair.

During the campaign he played alongside his brother Cameron who had also joined the club that year. Appearing 6(+3) times for the Glory, he travelled back to England ready to feature in our first team squad for the start of the following season.

On 9th August 2014, Edwards made his Royals bow against Wigan at the DW Stadium. After that 2-2 draw, the ensuing Tuesday he made his Madejski Stadium debut in our fixture against Newport County in the Capital One Cup.

Beyond the hoops:
Edwards was released from his contract in May 2014, and following trials at Crawely and training with Manchester City, he joined Partick Thistle in the Sottish Premier League.

Signing a one-year deal, he made his debut for Thistle in a 3-0 win over Dundee United in October 2015.

On the international scene, he was part of Australia's U23s squad that took part in the 2016 AFC U23 Championship in Qatar and in March 2017 Edwards was called up to the senior Australian national team!
