Holmes' Story:
Having joined the Royals' Academy at the age of 8, Holmes has achieved what every young player at Reading hopes to do. He has risen through the age groups and made his senior debut - all the while studying for his A-Levels at Maiden Erlegh!

A staple in the U23 side in 2017-18 - even at the age of 17, he acquitted himself well to the age group above and subsequently caught the eye of the first team coaching staff.

His first involvement with the senior setup was being selected to travel to a mid-season tour of Spain. With centre-halves Paul McShane and Tommy Elphick out injured, Holmes moved up the pecking order and claimed a surprise start at Madejski Stadium - with Bolton Wanderers the visitors on the night, just a week before his 18th birthday.

Holmes' job was to mark former Royal, Adam Le Fondre - a player Holmes said he used to look up to while he had a Reading Season Ticket as a child!

Holmes acquitted himself well on the night, and earned himself a place in the first team squad for several of the games following that night against Bolton.

He will be hoping to continue his development and try and force his way further into the first team setup in the coming seasons.
