Date of birth
Serbian coach Marko Mitrović joined Veljko Paunović's coaching team in September 2020.
Much like Veljko Paunović, Marko’s career has seen him take in a number of different countries – playing predominantly in his homeland but also enjoying spells in Hungary, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan before his coaching career took him to Chicago.
Coming through the ranks with Red Star Belgrade, the Serbian youth international enjoyed a string of loan spells in his homeland, including a promotion win with FK Milicionar, before a move to Hungary and top tier Budapest-based side Vasas.
He won the second division title back in Serbia before a move to Baku and the Azerbaijan Premier League and then nearly two years in Kazakhstan.
He hung up his boots back in Serbia and began a coaching career as an assistant with former club Banat. And in 2012, he first linked up with Veljko Paunović as his assistant in the national youth sides – winning the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand in 2015.
After a spell working within Red Star’s youth development system, he followed Paunović to Illinois to become Assistant Coach at Chicago Fire. And then he again linked up with his fellow Serb at Reading.
