Axel Óskar Andresson

Date of birth

Defender Andresson became the latest in a long string of Icelanders to represent the Royals when he debuted from the bench against Gillingham in the first round of the Carabao Cup – he came off the bench to feature in a 2-0 victory.

Andresson is also an international at youth level, having represented Iceland up to Under-21 level.

The centre-half progressed through our Academy set-up as a scholar and joined the Under-23 group in the 2016-17 campaign.

As well as representing the Royals’ youth team that season, he also joined Bath City on a loan stint – his set-piece ability helped contribute to an impressive five goals for the Romans, where he would also captain the National League South side.

Andresson then went on to represent another West Country side in the shape of Torquay in the 2017-18 campaign, and in August 2018 he made another loan switch - this time abroad, linking up with Norwegian outfit Viking Stavanger.
