Gravenberch is a powerful presence in the centre of defence and has no trouble dealing with all types of forward players.

The Amsterdam-born defender began his career with the famed Ajax Academy whom he joined in 2002. Having helped the youth squad to the 2011/12 Eredivisie league title, his team then finished runners-up to Milan in the NextGen Series – the Champions League equivalent for U20 teams.

A former youth international with the Netherlands, Gravenberch was also part of his nation’s triumphant UEFA U17 Championship squad in 2012, lifting the trophy after a penalty shootout win over Germany in Slovenia.

The 6’1” defender signed his first professional contract at the Amsterdam ArenA in 2012, and progressed forward to spend a loan spell at NEC before a move away from Holland for the first time to join Romanian side Universitatea Cluj two years ago.

He then returned to his homeland to join Dordrecht last summer and the Amsterdam-born defender has now made the move to the UK by agreeing terms with the Royals, signing a contract that will keep him at Madejski Stadium until the summer of 2019.

hi first season at the club was hindered by injury; he played just five times for the first team - although that did include an EFL Cup win over Brighton at the Amex and an appearance at the Emirates against Arsenal.
