Reading-born stopper Lewis Ward - formerly a Season Ticket holder at Madejski Stadium as a youngster - progressed through the ranks at Hogwood to turn professional as a Royal.
He was a regular in the Under-18 squad during his time in the Academy and continued his form with the Under-21s, becoming a Barclays U21 Premier League Cup winner in April 2014.
Ward's first loan spell away from the club came the following season, joining Whitehawk on the south coast, and then he had a short spell with Sutton United the following year.
In 2016-17, Ward enjoyed loan spells with Icelandic side Fylkir, Margate and Hungerford Town whilst impressing for our Under-23s side.
And in November 2017, Ward made a loan switch to Aldershot, where some outstanding form helped the Shots to tighten up at the back and eventually earn a place in the National League play-offs at the season's end.
Ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, Ward made the move to Sixfields for a season-long loan with Northampton Town - his first foray into League football.
