A long-serving member of the Reading side, Luke Southwood is part of an illustrious group that have graduated from the Royals' Academy to represent the club at senior level.
A talented young stopper who was involved with the club's Under-21s early on in his career, Luke Southwood also represented England at Under-19 level.
He represented his country and kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Senegal as England U20s secured a Tournoi tournament victory back in March 2017.
And then the Academy graduate goalkeeper was also included in England's 21-man squad which travelled to the Far East for the U20 World Cup Finals in South Korea - returning with a winner's medal!
At club level, Southwood has had loan spells with Bath and Eastleigh in the National League, and most recently ahead of the 2019-20 season, he made a loan move north of the border to join Scottish top-tier side Hamilton Academical. During two separate spells in the same season at New Douglas Park, Southwood registered 18 appearances.
Returning from the Accies, Southwood made his Royals first-team debut in September 2020 during a 3-1 win Carabao Cup victory over Colchester United.
