Andy Rinomhota

Date of birth

Andy Rinomhota is an energetic midfielder who joined our youth ranks from AFC Portchester, signing an initial two-year deal in April 2015.

Rinomhota played with both the Under-21s and Under-18s during his first full season.

But then in the U23 campaign in 2016-17, the midfielder came to the fore – missing just a single fixture for group, including in their Checkatrade Trophy campaign, totting up a total of 39 appearances in all competitions.

That resulted in a call-up to the first-team’s pre-season camp in the Netherlands, and ultimately a place on the bench at Loftus Road for the first game of the new campaign against Queens Park Rangers in 2017-18.

His debut followed just days later, as he played the duration against Gillingham in a Carabao Cup first round victory at Madejski Stadium.

Rinomhota was a semi-regular inclusion in matchday squads throughout that campaign, although he only made one further appearance - again in the Carabao Cup in a win over Millwall.

28 appearances during 2018-19 – including a belter debut-goal against League leaders Norwich at Carrow Road – Andy’s breakthrough season ended with the midfielder rightly obtaining the club’s prestigious Player of the Season Award.

He became only the fifth home-grown player to receive the award behind Gylfi Sigurðsson, Shane Long, Alex Pearce and Jordan Obita.

During the 2020-21 campaign, Rinomhota clocked up his 100th Royals appearance, a feat he capped with a goal during a 3-0 win over Coventry City in January 2021.
