Having started out playing for South African clubs AmaTuks and Supersport United, Khumalo moved to England to join Tottenham Hotspur in January 2011 for a fee of around £1.5 million.
A few months later, Preston North End made an emergency loan move for the centre-back and acquired his services on deadline day until the end of the season.
For the 2011/12 Championship campaign, Khumalo joined the Royals on a season-long loan deal. He made his debut for the club at Madejski stadium on 6th August in our 2-2 draw with Millwall and went on to make just five appearances in a Reading shirt before the arrival of Kaspars Gorkss later on that month.
Due to the presence of the 6 ft. 4 In Latvian, Khumalo’s first team chances became limited and after having not played in a game since August, he decided to terminate his loan deal and move back to Spurs to evaluate his options.
A year’s long spell in Greece with PAOK followed his time as a Royal, and he spent the season after that on loan to Doncaster back in the Championship.
Making 32 appearances for the Rovers, Khumalo was on the opposing team that visited Madejski Stadium that October – the Royals coming out on top four goals to one.
Still a contracted player at Tottenham he’s a regular overaged player in their U21s squad, despite not having made a first team appearances for the club.
His most recent loan spell took him to League One with Colchester United. The Manzini-born defender made ten starts for the U’s before returning once against to white Hart Lane at the end of the season.
