Date of birth
Williams started his career as a trainee with Football League Club Scunthorpe United. He turned professional in July 2003, making his first appearance as an 88th minute substitute a year later in a 3-0 win against Yeovil.
As seasons went by, he developed into a regular for the Iron, making over 150 starts in the league. In 2010 he turned down a new contact, instead, opting to join Brian McDermott at Reading on a free transfer, signing a three-year deal with the club.
Williams only made five appearances across all competitions, the majority of his time was spent out on loans to Peterborough, and Sheffield.
Making only three Madejski Stadium appearances before leaving to join Sheffield United on a permanent basis.
Throughout both spells with the Blades, he only accomplished 29 league starts in just under three years.
He cancelled his contract at the club in January 2014, deciding to relocate back to Lincolnshire, to play regular team football again with Scunthorpe.
Williams has made over 200 league starts on behalf of club he signed for as a trainee over ten years ago. At the age of 28 he still remains a crucial first team player at the club, and is still awaiting his first professional goal.
