Monrovia-born forward Mass Sarr’s influence on English football was fleeting and came solely in the blue and white hoops of Reading.
The seasoned Liberian international made 20 starts and 18 appearances from the bench for the Royals, scoring three goals – all of which came within the space of just over a month, against Lincoln, Millwall and Chesterfield half way through that first season at Madejski Stadium.
He first arrived from Croatia and Hajduk Split in 1998 and 18 months later, he left to go down under and join Sydney Olympic. His last Madejski Stadium appearance came as a 74th minute substitute in a goalless draw with Martin Butler’s Cambridge United in January 2000.
