Michael Branch

Date of birth

Born in Liverpool, Branch started his career with the other half of Merseyside, joining Everton’s Academy.

He made his senior debut for the Toffees in 1996 as a substitute against to-be Premier League champions of that year Manchester United.

Branch found himself a regular in the first team during the 1996/97 season, making 27 appearances across the league and cup.

After falling short from his early potential, he was loaned out to Manchester City, Birmingham and then Wolves in order to reignite his previously shown form.

He made his loan move to Molineux permanent for the 2000/01 season, signing a three-year deal with the club.

It was during his time with Wanderers that he briefly came to Reading on loan, making his only Madejski Stadium appearance as a 69th minute replacement for Kevin Watson in our 2-2 draw with Oldham in March 2002.

He was substituted in for Jamie Cureton in the following week at Bristol City, then returned to Wolves after picking up an injury.

His career petered out somewhat after moves to Bradford and Chester, last seen playing for Northern Premier League side Burscough F.C in 2010, aged 32.
