A youth with Watford, Bond came through the Hornets Academy system playing for both the youth and reserve teams at Vicarage Road.
After featuring on the substitute’s bench for parts of the 2010/11 season, he then moved on loan to Brackley Town where he spent a couple of months before further loan moves to Forest Green, Dagenham & Redbridge and Bury.
Between these spells, the England U21 international made his first start for Watford, deputising for Scott Loach after he was sent off in the 82nd minute of a Championship fixture against Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
His home league debut came a year later on the 23rd February 2015 in a 2-1 victory over Derby County when he replaced an injured Manuel Almunia. Bond made another seven league appearances that season and made his sixth consecutive start against Hull and kept his first clean sheet in a man of the match performance.
After recovering from a serious injury at the end of that season, Bond made the transfer to Steve Clarke’s Reading side on a three-year deal. For an undisclosed fee, the U21 England shot stopper made his debut for the Royals in our opening league fixture of the 2015/16 season away to Birmingham.
He stepped up to the international scene at U17 level, firstly choosing to appear for the Welsh national side. He progressed through the U19s, and made two appearances on the substitute’s bench for the full Wales squad during the Euro 2012 qualifying matches.
Despite the caps for Wales, in July 2013 the FAW stated that Bond had chosen to switch to the English national pool, and subsequently made his England U21s debut that November as part of a 9-0 win against San Marino.
