Joining our Academy back in 2003, Tanner first played his football for our U8s side. Eight years later, the striker put pen to paper signing his long term future to the club alongside another Academy star Aaron Tshibola.

He’s played an important part in our U21s roster, scoring on numerous occasions season after season.

Throughout the 2012/13 campaign, he was part of the squad that lifted the U21s Premier League Cup in its inaugural year – the Royals beating Manchester City 4-3 on aggregate with Tanner himself chipping in with a first leg goal.

Martin Kuhl’s U21s side lifted yet more silverware last season, and Tanner played his part as they achieved promotion to Premier League Division One as runners-up to Middlesbrough.

Contracted to the club until the summer of 2017, he made his debut for the senior team in our opening Capital One Cup fixture last season against Newport County. The striker scored our third of the night after being introduced as an 89th minute substitute, replacing another goalscorer in Nick Blackman.

Tanner played in 1(+4) games up until January where he looked to further develop his natural ability with a loan spell at League Two’s AFC Wimbledon.

He made his bow for the Dons against Accrington and went on to record 16(+3) appearances before returning to Madejski Stadium at the end of the season.
