👨‍🎓 Pușcaș | “Every day I learn something new”

Romanian front-man on his break and the return to training

20 August 2020

Back in training ahead of his second year in England… George Pușcaș enjoyed his time at home this summer, but now can’t wait to get started in 2020-21.

“It was a nice break, I really enjoyed it, but I couldn’t wait to come back for the new season,” Pușcaș said.

“It has been tough; it is my first time in this country and I am still adapting to this style – and in my first year, a pandemic comes!

“It was really good to be back in Romania during the break, after I don’t know how many months. It was really tough in this pandemic period – we could not enjoy our family and friends. So for me it was really good to be home. I enjoyed the time with my family, and the dogs!

“Now I’m back here, and I have to work hard and really push to be better and better again. I am really enjoying the training – I have been missing training with the guys.

The Romanian forward netted 16 goals for club and country over the course of 2019-20 – highlights including that five-minute hat-trick in Wigan and the early-season brace against Cardiff City.

And with those experiences under the belt, he is looking forward to pushing on further in the coming season… continuing to learn and to try to turn that into results.

“I expected it to be a tough league and that I had to adapt good,” he continued. “It is important because I am coming from another country, to see another type of football and to learn the language. These are important things for me.

“I worked hard – it was not easy here for me. In the end, we got some good results and wins. We could have done better, but let’s look at the future and leave the past behind. Let’s be ready for what’s next.

“Every day I am feeling in a better position, to be honest. Every day I learn something new. I adapt better here. day by day, I will get better.

“Like last season, this one will again be tough. Everyone wants to do well and be there up near the top of the league. We will always try to push hard, to be better, and at the end of the season we will see where we find ourselves.”
