Saturday may be a little emotional for fans and players alike. Supporters were last at Madejski Stadium to see us take on Premier League opposition in Sheffield United when the FA Cup Fifth Round was playing out back at the start of March 2020. And on Saturday, some supporters will be back!
"It’s been a tough year for everyone. So to go back home now and play in front of some fans, and for them to be able to come and watch us… it’s a big thing," Laurent admitted.
"I’ll get to meet some fans finally – it would have nice to have gone into that game top of the table, if we had got three points on Wednesday. But we’ll go again on Saturday and try to do a job in front of them."
With so little turnaround between arriving hom in the early hours of Thursday morning and kicking off against Chris Hughton's men at 12.30pm on Saturday, it's not going to be easy.
"Every game is tough in this league. They have a manager with a good history and some good players. They did well last year and just missed out on the play-offs. So it’ll be a tough game.
"They’ll come with a game-plan… but it’s all about us and how we break them down, and we’ll try to get the three points.
"And the fans being here will help. Even in midweek, at Sheffield Wednesday, if our fans had been behind the goal, they can give us that extra push and even apply pressure to the officials as well.
"So on Saturday, we’ll be pushing in front of our fans. It’s a step in the right direction getting fans back in and hopefully we can get more and more fans in as time goes by, pack it out and get the place rocking."
