Should Reading get past Leicester City on Thursday in the 5th Round of the Women’s FA Cup, a home tie against Manchester City is next up for the Royals on March 15th.
Reading, who currently sit in 4th in the FA Barclays FA Women’s Super League, and Women’s Championship side Leicester were originally scheduled to play on Sunday in the 5th Round of the FA Cup, but weather conditions and flooding that blocked access to Farley Way Stadium meant the fixture was called off on the morning of the game for safety reasons. The rescheduled tie will now take place this coming Thursday 20th February at 7.45pm, again, at Farley Way Stadium.
Kelly Chambers’ Royals are coming off a 5-0 win in the FA Cup Fourth Round against London City Lionesses at Princes Park back in late January. Fara Williams opened the scoring in the 13th minute, before Jo Potter doubled the Royals’ lead with a header on the half-hour mark. Maz Pacheco netted her first ever Reading goal on the stroke of half-time after a shot from Williams hit the bar and settled nicely for the defender to slot home. Lisa-Marie Utland added her name to the scoresheet midway through the second-half and Williams completed a brace with a coolly converted spot-kick to round off an impressive victory.
Manchester City, who currently sit on top of the WSL are coming off a colossal 10-0 victory against Ipswich Town on Sunday which put the comfortably through to the Quarter-Final stages of the Women’s FA Cup, which will be played on March 15th.
