“Hello everyone, I’m very happy to be here. I’m so excited, and I believe this season will be great for us.”
Warm words from new Royals signing, Felipe Araruna, after penning terms to join Reading on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Brazilian giants, São Paulo.
The Brazilian midfielder has left his homeland professionally for the first time to take on a new challenge in England, and becomes a Royal on a contract until 2022.
While he spoke English in his first interview as a Reading player, he will certainly have helping hands from fellow Portuguese speakers in the squad in Rafael, Pelé and Lucas João as he gets used to life in England.
The 23-year-old says he is ready and raring to go for a new challenge in England, though, as he links up with his new teammates for the first time after arriving overnight from Brazil.
“I’m very happy with the contact with Reading, and from Brazil. I believe this is a good opportunity for me and for the club to grow,” Araruna said after joining the club.
“It’s a big step, and I hope to do my best here, to bring the club to the best place.
“I learned my English when I was 12 years old, so I have to practice! I believe that in a few days, it will be better.
“I’m a midfielder and I can play too in right-back. I’m a tactical player, I like a good pass and doing good things in the field. I’m happy and excited already to show the team.
“I’m ready to play, and I’m excited. Thank you very much and good luck for us.”
