"A massive win for us." That was the reflection of Reading midfielder Charlie Adam, as he looked back on a triumphant display at Craven Cottage.
It was the Scotsman who grabbed the game's second goal; John Swift had opened the scoring. Ivan Cavaleiro got one back for the hosts but Reading's resolve was evident again to see out a win.
"When you come to places like Craven Cottage you have to defend well. We will be under pressure, but we have a different mentality now, you can see that with the results we have.
"We had a few tough games and it’s a massive win for us. We are looking up the table rather than behind us for a change."
The midfielder netted his second goal for the Royals, with his first coming just before Christmas against Derby County. This time out, he got on the end of Ovie Ejaria's clinical pass into the danger zone and hammered home from close range.
"I love scoring goals, it's great to score goals at this level, and hopefully it can continue and we can keep winning games," he continued.
"When I first joined the club and what you see from afar, Reading were used to losing games. Now, you can see it in the dressing room and the attitudes after the games, we are building confidence.
"We have two centre-backs who love to head it and block it, they want to keep clean sheets. And the back four since they’ve come into the team they’ve done really well. And the goalkeeper made another couple of unbelievable saves again today.
"And when you have a top goalkeeper like that who can win you games as well as the players in the top half of the pitch.
"It has been an unbelievable Christmas period. But we have to dust ourselves down and go again."
