The Football Association have confirmed the final placement of the FA Women’s Super League, and Reading FC Women have been placed fifth in the rankings.
After the FA WSL and FA Women’s Championship sides voted to end the 2019-20 campaign early, we were just awaiting final ratification of the rankings.
The decision was taken to confirm placements on a points-per-game basis – and with 21 points earned from 14 fixtures, the Royals retained their place as fifth in the division, trailing only to champions Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United.
Chelsea had trailed Man City by a single point before the suspension, but with one game fewer played, their PPG boosted them into top spot. Liverpool meanwhile have been relegated with the lowest PPG ratio, and will be replaced in the top tier by Aston Villa, who were crowned winners of the Championship.
That makes it back-to-back fifth-place finishes for Reading FC Women – another outstanding season for Kelly Chambers’ side, who have mixed it up with the best clubs in the land to earn their plaudits.
