🙏 Royals to wear black armbands and observe a minute’s silence to pay respect to Forbury Gardens victims

First team will honour those who lost their lives in last weekend’s tragic events at the heart of our community…

26 June 2020

At the personal request of our staff and our players, both Reading Football Club and Brentford Football Club will observe a minute’s silence ahead of our 6pm kick-off at Madejski Stadium on Tuesday evening – to pay our respects to those who lost their lives in last weekend’s horrific attack in Forbury Gardens.

The Royals first team and coaching staff will all wear black armbands to honour the three members of our community who were tragically killed.

Although our supporters are not able to join us in tribute in person at Madejski Stadium, we would welcome all our fans to pause and fall silent at 5.59pm on Tuesday evening and to use that minute to remember those we lost last weekend, treasure what we all have and perhaps too often take for granted, and consider how we can best support those affected by the tragedy.

Our first team players will also wear black armbands when we travel to Derby County this weekend as a mark of respect – however we wanted to properly honour those we lost with a minute’s silence when we are next at home, surrounded by the Reading family, on Tuesday night. Together.
