Royals captain Liam Moore knows that a great haul of points from the first half-dozen matches will count for nothing come kick-off on Saturday… we’ll need to be at it again to get the win against Rotherham United.
The Millers, newly promoted back to the Championship this season, have picked up a steady stream of points so far this term – that has included draws against Birmingham, Huddersfield and Nottingham Forest. So nothing’s a given this Saturday.
“It’ll be another difficult challenge,” said Moore. “We need to rest, to recover. And come Saturday, the result against Wycombe is gone. It’s all about trying to get the next three points, and moving on again.
“We can’t get ahead of ourselves. There are a lot of experienced lads in the dressing room who are repeating that message. 40 games left – it’s such a long season.
“It’s a great run right now, and we’re happy with it. But we need to keep going. Each time you can get points on the board, whether that’s a point away, three at home… they’re good points. Let’s leave ourselves in the mix and take each game as it comes.
“We’ll continue to work hard on the training pitch. The manager is brilliant at that; his in-depth analysis on teams is fantastic. We’ll keep working and see where it takes us.”
